GRID 81 is a modular search surface developed for controlled, structured and repeatable scent detection training.

With 81 consistently positioned openings within a 200 × 200 mm module, GRID 81 creates a dense and uniform search surface where scent can be presented in multiple positions while the surrounding training environment remains consistent.

GRID 81 is used together with Scent Units, positioned at selected points within the search surface.

PURPOSE

GRID 81 is developed to:

– Create a controlled and repeatable search surface
– Reduce visual differences between scent positions
– Provide a high density of search points within a compact area
– Support airflow through the search surface
– Allow systematic changes in height, placement and difficulty
– Make search behavior easier to observe and evaluate

AIRFLOW AND GEOMETRY

The open grid structure allows air and scent to move through the search surface.

Because the openings share the same visual geometry, the Scent Unit can be repositioned without significantly changing the appearance of the wall.

This gives the trainer greater control over variables such as:

– Source position
– Source height
– Airflow
– Approach direction
– Distance between sources

GRID 81 does not eliminate environmental variables.

It makes them easier to control, repeat and change intentionally.

CLEAN AND CONTROLLED SCENT HANDLING

GRID 81 is designed to work together with Scent Units, keeping the scent source separate from the search surface itself.

This simplifies cleaning and helps reduce unwanted scent transfer between training positions.

Together with the Search Kit, GRID 81 supports a structured workflow for scent storage, handling and presentation.

MODULAR BY DESIGN

Each GRID 81 module measures 200 × 200 × 50 mm and connects through the Module Lock system.

Modules can be added vertically or horizontally to change:

– Number of search points
– Source height
